About this experience
What the event is about
Step into the stream and discover how to create striking, atmospheric portraits in one of the most challenging and rewarding natural environments.
This hands-on photography workshop is built around photographing a model in a local woodland stream, using the water, surrounding landscape and available light to create images packed with depth, colour and impact. You will learn how to balance natural light with additional lighting, control reflections and highlights on the water, and position your model to make the most of the location.
We will explore composition, camera angles, posing, movement and how subtle changes in your shooting position can completely transform an image. You will also learn how to work with changing light, avoid distracting reflections, protect your equipment around water and confidently adapt when conditions do not go exactly to plan.
Rather than simply standing back and watching, you will have the opportunity to photograph the model yourself, experiment with different ideas and build a varied collection of powerful images for your portfolio. Throughout the workshop, I will guide you through the decisions behind each setup, explain why certain approaches work and help you improve your images as you shoot.
This workshop is ideal for photographers who want to become more confident with location lighting, improve their portrait composition and experience something different from a traditional studio or outdoor portrait session.
Expect dramatic water reflections, beautiful natural surroundings, creative lighting and a genuinely memorable photography experience.
